Pellegrino: "We have to defend this shirt in La Liga until the very last minute"

Cadiz CF coach Mauricio Pellegrino held a press conference ahead of matchday 38 of LALIGA EA SPORTS next Saturday: "We are going through difficult days, trying to cope with this moment as best as we can. There is a feeling of disappointment, of sadness that everyone at Cadiz is experiencing. We are drawing on the energy we need to face the last game. We pushed hard in the end and came up short, we were so close. Obviously, it's not just about one game but the entire season. The reflection is that we have made many mistakes throughout the season at all levels."

Last press conference. "It was a decision of the institution. We must see the positive intention of the president, who is the highest authority, to send a message of responsibility."

Season. "During my tenure, we failed in key games like against Rayo, Osasuna, Celta, Mallorca... where we could have aimed for more. It's a combination of factors, but I believe we failed in key games. The consolation we have is that we gave our all, we went together as a group, and we fought until the end."

Squad. "Cadiz has a great squad. The assessment thread is very thin. Right now, everything looks gray, but there is a balanced squad that has also suffered many setbacks throughout the season."

Decision to come. "I don't regret coming here at all. I came to a beautiful club, where people have treated us with a lot of respect and affection. This is part of the risk one takes when making decisions."

Match against Almería. "We have to defend our shirt in La Liga and we want to give the best possible image despite this feeling of sorrow. Ousou won't make it. We have Chris Ramos and Víctor Chust suspended."
