1-1 | Escalante's goal becomes survival point

The Cadista team drew at the Martínez Valero against Elche CF to secure a new survival in LaLiga.

A vital game for Cadiz's salvation in which there was a bit of everything. Elche, who came into this match with no chance of salvation, faced a Cadiz side who didn't want to speculate on any option other than victory. The game opened with a strong shot from Nteka that Conan caught in two minutes, while it was the Yellows who opened the scoring.

Ten minutes into the game, Fede San Emeterio's strong low shot from outside the area was touched back-heeled by Gonzalo Escalante, deflecting the ball just wide to put the ball into the Elche goal and put the score at 0-1.

Minutes later, the home side took steps forward in search of an equaliser. Tete Morente scored in the 27th minute, but he was in an infringing position at the time of the shot. After the hour mark, Conan Ledesma made a great personal action to prevent the goal, and Théo responded with a great personal move that Lozano could not finish as he failed to reach the low cross.

In the 37th minute, Nteka sent the ball into the back of the net, although the goal was again disallowed as Tete Morente, the player who crossed the ball, was offside. Minutes before the break, Conan Ledesma came up again to make a great save and prevent a one-on-one.

The second half started with a close range shot from Tete Morente that went over the crossbar. As the minutes ticked by, the home side continued to search for a goal until the 71st minute when Lucas Boyé found the net with his head. A goal that was not enough for the Elche side, who went in search of a second.

In the end, the Cadistas managed to keep the danger away from their goal, and even had the occasional close call to sign the draw at the end of the game and certify their stay, for another season, in LaLiga Santander.
