Cádiz CF goalkeeper Jeremías 'Conan' Ledesma was awarded the XIX Manuel Jiménez Trophy on Tuesday afternoon, jointly awarded by Ventorrillo El Chato and Cadena SER Cádiz at the prestigious restaurant in the Cadiz capital.
The event, which was attended by the Argentinean footballer himself and the president of Cádiz CF, Manuel Vizcaíno, served to highlight the dedication, quality and importance of the goalkeeper under the goalposts of the yellow first team to achieve, last season, the third consecutive permanence in the elite of Spanish football.
Ledesma, who has received the distinguished recognition for the third consecutive season, explained that "it is the fruit of the club's perseverance", while acknowledging that "nothing is possible if there is no family, my teammates and the club behind me", which is why he gave "great value to the recognition of the people, this award has a special value".
The director of Cadena SER-Radio Cádiz, Lourdes Acosta, said at the award ceremony that "it is not only important to get there, but also to stay there" before specifying that "this is the case of Ledesma, who has won his third consecutive award in the four years he has been a Cadista". For her part, the manager of the El Faro restaurant, Maite Córdoba, commented that "Cádiz CF makes us very happy and we need them to continue in the top flight for many years to come".
Manuel Vizcaíno, the Yellows' top manager, looked back on his tenth time at the prize-giving ceremony and said, "We are stronger and more enthusiastic than ever.
