The eleventh LaLiga Santander matchday of the season kicked off at the Estadio de Vallecas with a clash between Rayo Vallecano and Cádiz. The home side, who are in good form and in mid-table, started the game aggressively, pushing forward in the Cadiz area and firing long-range shots at Conan Ledesma's goal, who stood firm in the face of the Vallecas attack.

There were several long-range shots that brought some of Conan's best saves, as well as several shots in the six-yard box that the Argentinian cleared off the line impressively. Álvaro García, Isi and Fran García were the top scorers in the Cádiz goal.

Minutes before half-time, Isi Palazón converted a penalty which resulted in Iza Carcelén being sent off. A few minutes later, Álvaro García, inside the area, beat Conan Ledesma to send the two teams into the changing rooms with the score at two-nil.

The second half began with two shots from Isi Palazón which Fali responded to with a header from Alcaraz's cross. After the hour mark, it was Rayo who scored again. Lejeune, from a free kick, beat Ledesma with a shot from the edge of the area. Before the goal, Rubén Alcaraz was shown a second yellow card, leaving Sergio González's side with nine players.

With two men down, Cádiz were suffering too much from Rayo's quick transitions and, in another attacking move, Sergio Camello was on hand to beat Ledesma for the fourth goal of the afternoon. After 80 minutes, a good run by Mabil led to Balliu putting the ball into his own net. As the clock ticked towards the end, Lejeune was again on hand, this time from a corner, to make it five-one.
