As an Andalusian derby and a duel between two teams who, a priori, will be fighting for the same objective, Cádiz and Almería went into the third matchday with a high intensity on every ball that was played. The yellows had the odd dangerous chance, such as a long-range effort from Darwin Machis, and the clearest chance came from Roger Martí.
It was a first half in which the Cadistas felt comfortable on the pitch, and Vicente Moreno's men were unable to create any attacking moves to reach the goal defended by Conan Ledesma. With the score level at 0-0, the two teams went to the changing rooms.
A few minutes into the second half, Edgar González was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Chris Ramos, leaving Almería with ten players on the pitch, forcing the Almeria team to change an attacking player like Arribas to introduce Kaiky. A change that would mark the course of the second half.
On the edge of the hour mark, a rehearsed move by the Cadistas ended with Luis Hernández, who scored his first goal in the yellow shirt to put the score at one-nil on the scoreboard. Almería tried to react with a shot from Luis Suárez that went over the crossbar.
In stoppage time, the Indálico side pulled out all the stops and the equaliser came in the 94th minute with a shot from outside the area by Kaiky. In this way, the match ended in a share of the points.
