0-1 | Momo's header clinches victory over Espanyol

This Sunday saw the third friendly match of the pre-season for Sergio González's men. On this occasion, the Cadistas took on RCD Espanyol at the Marbella Football Center. Momo, with a header, scored the winning goal a few minutes into the second half.

After the initial scoreline, the Cadiz side had the first chance of the game through Darwin Machis. After receiving Negredo's back-heeled pass inside the box, the Venezuelan's shot was cut out under the post by centre-back Cabrera as the ball was heading into the goal. A few minutes later, Espanyol scored offside and the goal was not scored.

With both teams battling for possession, Cadiz had some dangerous chances. Roger Martí, with a great shot from the edge of the area and then heading in a cross from the right, came close to the first goal for Sergio's side. In the last quarter of an hour of play, both teams came close but failed to score and Espanyol and Cádiz went in at the break with a goalless draw.

A few minutes after a restart that brought with it a carousel of changes in the Cadiz ranks, Momo Mbaye put the 'Tacita' side ahead. Javi Hernández, from the corner, was in charge of placing a more than accurate ball into the heart of the area for Momo Mbaye to head home to make it one-nil.

From then on, the second half was an exchange of possession, with Espanyol coming close in the final stages of the game. The Cadistas responded well to the Catalan side's attacks and took the match in Marbella by a scoreless scoreline.
