Sergio: "The fans will be with the team"

The Cadista coach spoke to the media before Athletic's visit.

Sergio González spoke to the media before the match against Athletic Club. "We were very clear that the team was committed, very involved. What happened at the Camp Nou reinforces us all. The changes were due to circumstances and thoughts from the bench, more than the players themselves," he said about the victory at the Camp Nou.

Rotations. "The squad is capable of playing any player. The day of Betis I think the team was comfortable, it was fine. It was a moment of frustration with the penalty. At the Camp Nou we thought we could adjust the players' performances to the match. They showed that they are capable for any game."

Thursday's match. "We have two enemies. One is Athletic and the other is ourselves. Experience tells you that after playing a great game against Madrid or Barca, the next game is difficult because the praise weakens you. This team has confidence, professionalism and mettle. We have just made history in Barcelona, but there is a game tomorrow. That's the message I'm sending to my players."

Solid block. "Athletic has high-level players. Players with a lot of quality. They are a very strong team and they will demand a lot from us. We have to be strong, serious and compete at a high level. They are very good in second play, they have their lines forward and they play their game with the ball. Being able to take the second plays will be the key."

Little time from one game to the next. "Now it's better not to spend time so as not to disconnect and think about the game. Yesterday we enjoyed the Barça game, it's good to enjoy it because it's important, but we have to think about tomorrow's match."

Important date. "We have to be focused on the fact that we have an important match, that people will be with us. They are going to support us. Athletic is a team that will force us to compete hard if we want to get a victory, which would be very important for us."
