Coach Sergio González spoke to the media after the match against Real Madrid. "It's a big disappointment because we lose our dependence on ourselves. It hurts us a lot in terms of the standings. Anything can happen because this is sport. We played a very good game. In the last few minutes we weren't so much on top because we came from doing a great job. In the second half we had the penalty, but we didn't take it. In the last minutes, we had the feeling that we couldn't do it. We generated a lot of chances, but we weren't successful. It's a letdown for what it means."
Last matchday. "I understand that Osasuna is a strong rival, that always gives its best, that always tries to be as high as possible, and Espanyol with the new coach will try to do it. We will fight to win in Vitoria. I think the team deserved to depend on itself on the last matchday. We have to finish with a victory and, from there on, let's hope that the situation is right for us to stay up. We have to get up and go for Alavés."
The fans. "Today's reception can't be beaten. I feel even worse for our fans. The fans deserved to finish with an important victory at home, it was our last home game. That didn't happen, but Mallorca scored at the end. We tried, the team gave everything, but it could not have been a victory. There is nothing left but to raise our heads, work, win in Vitoria and hopefully soccer will give us back what it has taken from us today."
