Sergio González: "The most important thing is to get a win now

The Catalan coach spoke to the media after Cádiz CF's defeat on their visit to Vitoria

Cádiz CF coach Sergio González spoke to the media in the press room at Mendizorroza after the match against Deportivo Alavés in the 21st round of LALIGA EA Sports. "It's a very complicated moment, as it was last week. Until now we were holding on to the salvation net, but after Christmas it has been a sinkhole, especially Granada, and then the game the other day when we weren't able to win the game and today's match deepens the wound even more. The lads are going with us to the death, but things aren't working out".

Assessment of the match. "Focused on the game, it was a game in which they started better, but we knew it was going to be like that, with that initial outburst. I think we went from less to more in the first half and we finished well with a good feeling. In the second half, we knew it was going to be the same, but that penalty took us out of the game. When things don't work out, this kind of thing happens. From then on, it was difficult for us. We were weak, we were very fragile, the streak is very long, the feeling of the environment is a lot of pressure and in the end, footballers are also people and it's costing us. We're trying to change the discourse, but things aren't working out for us and hopefully we'll be able to turn the situation around".

The importance of getting back to winning three. "The main thing is to win again, to have the feeling of victory, of the joy that victory gives you, to be able to get unstuck and to be able to move forward. The objective was to win in any way we could. If you play well, you're closer to doing it, but now we're in this maelstrom of difficulties and what we want is to win. We knew it was a six-point game, we knew the game plan, but today it was a wrong action, in Granada it was a sending off, everything is penalising us a lot. The most important thing is to get a win now, regardless of what the others do".
