Cádiz CF formalises sporting alliance with Kuala Lumpur City FC

With this collaboration, the Cadista club will increase its presence on the Asian continent

Cádiz Club de Fútbol and Kuala Lumpur City FC have formalised a collaboration agreement that aims to boost the image of the Cadista club in Asia and help the Malaysian club to grow in terms of professionalisation and sporting management. The agreement includes Kuala Lumpur FC's travel to Spain for a pre-season training camp at the Cadista facilities and to play a friendly match with the first team.

Stanley Bernard Samuel, CEO of Kuala Lumpur City FC, José Luis Donoso Álvarez, Operations Director of Cádiz CF, and Adrián Prol Vázquez, delegate of LaLiga in Malaysia, took part in the signing of the agreement.

Cadiz co-owner Ben Harburg commented that "Cadiz has a strategic focus on Southeast Asia and we believe that a partnership with KL City FC is a strong first step into the Malaysian market. We look forward to seeing their players with us in Spain and bringing our team to the region soon."

Both clubs would also look to promote each other's brand and image in Spain and Malaysia, as well as explore other options that could bring commercial benefits.

Stanley Bernard said: "This partnership represents a great opportunity for Kuala Lumpur City FC to learn best practices from a team competing in one of the best leagues in the world.

"From LaLiga we are delighted that there are more Spanish clubs with a presence in this part of the world. In this particular case, it is Cádiz CF. Promoting football around the world is one of the main objectives that LaLiga has set as an integral part of its internationalisation strategy, and this partnership agreement is a great example of that," said Adrian Prol, LaLiga's delegate in Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur City FC is one of Malaysia's most successful football teams with 2 Super League titles, 3 Cups, 3 Charity Cups and 3 FA Cups to its name. This partnership is a further step in the club's internationalisation strategy, which will increase its presence on the Asian continent."
