Awer Mabil becomes the first 22-23 signing

The player is international with Australia with whom he will play the 2022 Qatar World Cup

Cádiz Club de Fútbol and Awer Mabil have reached an agreement to become the first signing of the 2022-23 season.

A native of Kenya (15-09-1995), he is a naturalised Australian citizen and an international with the national team. He was recently the scorer of the decisive penalty goal that qualified Australia for the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

A former Campbelltown City and Adeleide United player, he moved to Europe in 2015 with Danish side Midtylland. He then spent time on loan at Esbjerg (2016) and Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira (2017), before returning to Midtylland where he made 136 appearances and scored 20 goals (2018-2022). In recent months he has played for Kasımpaşa in Turkey.

He plays as a winger and can play on either flank. He stands out for his speed and verticality. His new contract ties him to Cadiz for the next four seasons.
