Awer Mabil was unveiled as a Cádiz Club de Fútbol player in Adeleide on Friday. The Hilton Hotel in the Australian city hosted an event which served to present to the local media the signing of the Australian international by the Cadista club for the next four seasons.
In the press conference he assured that "for me it means everything as a footballer to sign for Cadiz and to come to LaLiga". The Kenyan-born player, who arrived very young in Australia in a particular family history, does not hide that this step in his sporting career "is a dream come true for me and my family".
He is expected to travel to Spain next Sunday to start training with the rest of the squad: "I'm very excited and eager to get started now," he said.
For Mabil, after his experiences in Denmark, Turkey and Portugal, the move to the Spanish league is a real challenge: "Our job is to win games and provide a spectacle for our fans. LaLiga is one of the best championships in the world, with some of the best teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atlético de Madrid. I never imagined I could play against them. Now it's a reality. Now I have to work hard. I will give my best to win games, against the big teams it will be even more special. I'm looking forward to all these challenges.
