The match kicked off after a minute's silence in memory of a Valencia manager in the 70s, Jose Peris Frígola. On behalf of the Cadista club, a minute's silence was also held in memory of Pedro Ramos, grandfather of our player Chris Ramos.
Cádiz CF found themselves on the receiving end of an early goal from José Luis Gayá, who headed the ball past Conan Ledesma in the 3rd minute of the game. Cádiz CF bounced back well with two corners that failed to find a finisher and a Maxi Gómez cross to the near post that Chris Ramos could not reach as he fell inside the box. However, in the 22nd minute the game took another negative turn for the worse with another red card, in this case for Robert Navarro.
The game was further complicated three minutes later when Hugo Duro headed in a goal. Valencia continued to attack Ledesma's goal with several approaches. That was the way to the half-time break.
The second half got underway with two changes in the Cadista team: Jorge Meré and Alejo left their place on the pitch to Lucas Pires and Álex. Sergio González's team tried with several approaches that did not find a finisher. In the 64th minute, Sergi Guardiola and Roger came on in place of Maxi Gómez and Chris Ramos. In the 78th minute, Sobrino came on in place of Escalante.
The Cadista team threw their hearts into the Valencianista goal in the final minutes, accumulating up to four very dangerous chances, repelled with great interventions by the home goalkeeper. In the end, the final score remained 2-0 in Valencia's favour.
