One of the key duels of the season took place this Saturday at the Power Horse Stadium in Almería. UD Almería, who needed to win to escape from the lowest zone of the table, came out onto the field with a very clear offensive attitude, colliding with a Cádiz well planted in defensive tasks.
After twenty minutes, a shot from Théo Bongonda inside the area was going to speed up the first half. Just on the next play, Théo fell near the area and the referee awarded a penalty although, after a VAR review, the play ended in a foul on the edge of the area. Minutes later, Almería responded to this dangerous situation with a Robertone header that went over the goal.
Before the end of the break, the team from Almería had clear chances to take the lead, although the figure of David Gil appeared with two great interventions so that the two teams left at halftime with a tie at nothing on the scoreboard.
Five minutes after the game resumed, a throw-in hung by Luis Hernández was going to be touched by Roger Martí in the small area to put the score at zero to one. From the goal, the Cadistas continued to have scoring chances, but the local defense, the goalkeeper and misfortune prevented the advantage from extending.
In injury time, a penalty caused by Momo Mbaye on Luis Suárez was going to allow Almería to equalize the match from eleven meters. Gonzalo Melero deceived David Gil to bring the duel to the distribution of points.
