Cádiz CF had plenty of chances in the first half to take the lead

Cádiz CF played the 23rd EA SPORTS LALIGA matchday against Villarreal CF, away from home, with: Conan Ledesma; Iza, Jorge Meré, Víctor Chust, Lucas Pires; Alejo, Escalante, Álex, Robert Navarro; Rubén Sobrino and Chris Ramos. The players from both teams wore green armbands in support of those fighting against cancer, with World Cancer Day being commemorated on Sunday 4th.

The match started with the first chance for the home side. A centred header from Comesaña was caught by Conan Ledesma. The Cadista team, who wore the second team kit, balanced Villarreal's start with some long possessions. Cadista's first chance was a shot at the near post from Chris Ramos that went high after a great cross from Robert Navarro.

A few minutes later, Cádiz CF had another chance when Iván Alejo shot close to the six-yard box, but Alberto Moreno crossed at the last moment to deny him. Immediately afterwards, Chris Ramos had another chance; Alejo's cross was flicked on by Sobrino at the near post and the Cádiz striker's header flew just wide. Mauricio Pellegrino's team had one more chance with a quick transition after a steal in the high area that ended with a tight shot from Robert Navarro, but the home goalkeeper sent the ball out for a corner.

With two minutes gone, and with a corner in Villarreal's favour that was cleared by the Cadiz defence, half-time was reached.

The second half started with no changes for Cádiz CF, two for Villarreal CF. Chances were practically absent in both areas during the second 45 minutes. It was not until the 75th minute that Villarreal had a shot from Álex Baena that went just wide of Conan Ledesma's post. He then had an immediate chance to hit a shot inside the box, but it went just wide.

Juanmi made his debut for Cádiz CF, coming on in place of Iván Alejo. Subsequently, Robert Navarro and Chris Ramos made way for Brian Ocampo and Maxi Gómez. With six minutes added on, Zaldua and Kouamé came on in place of Sobrino and Escalante in stoppage time. With nothing more to report, the game came to an end.
