Perera: "Sevilla have a top class squad"

Cádiz's assistant coach looked ahead to Sunday's league game against Sevilla FC in Friday's press conference.

Cádiz CF's assistant coach Roberto Perera spoke to the media at the Ciudad Deportiva as part of a virtual press conference. The coach analysed his player's fitness levels ahead of Sunday's league game against Sevilla. “We've lacked the usual number of pre-season games that we'd normally like to play and having squad members isolating has been a key factor in general fitness levels with many not having being able to carry out normal pre-season activity”.

Juan Cala is fit again. “Last week Cala was having issues with his calf but he managed to play in the first half in Huesca. We took him off at the interval as a precautionary measure and Jonsson was also struggling at the break. At present, both players will be ready for Sunday's match”.

Garrido is back training with the squad. “We're really pleased to have Garrido back with the squad and what he represents is hugely important to us. That's possibly the most positive aspect and there is nothing new to report on other fronts. He'll regain full fitness little by little and it's just a question of time. He needs to be strong physically before he can get back to his best”.

Complicated game. “As the weeks go by the team is getting into the swing of things and being able to train normally without any hiccups is important. Sunday's game will be tricky against one of Europe’s top sides. When we dreamt of securing promotion, it was to look forward to games like these and we go into the match being very aware of the difficult task ahead. We struggle up to a point without our fans at the Estadio Carranza as they give us a boost and that’s been an advantage we've always enjoyed. The situation is what it is and we'll go into the game in the best way possible. Sevilla are very strong offensively and we'll try and manage the game to suit our style of play”.

Cervera has to watch the games from home. “He's at home, restless as he can't be with us for the day-to-day. He's handling things as best as he can and we're in touch constantly. He's aware of everything that is going on as we speak regularly to organise the training sessions. During matches we speak constantly, but I do hope he's back with us soon as he's badly missed".

Three games in the space of a week. “We've been in touch with the fitness coach as how to manage this situation. The coaching staff are at present just focused on the Sevilla match and the fitness coach will oversee the players’ well-being but at present we're only concentrating on Sunday’s game”.
