0-0 | A VALUABLE POINT TO CLOSE OUT 2020

Cádiz CF secure an important point against Real Valladolid in the last game of the year.

The game started off in a lively fashion at the Estadio de Carranza with chances falling to both teams as Weissman went close for the visitors rifling the ball off the crossbar following a corner. The home side responded shortly after as a lofted ball from Fali was headed inches over as Negredo latched onto the delivery and just before the quarter of an hour mark, 'Choco' Lozano went close but was foiled by Masip in the Valladolid goal.

As the half wore on, the game settled down, with Valladolid enjoying the better of the possession, although not managing to stamp their authority on the game. Sergio González's men moved the ball from wing to wing and brought out the defensive best in the home side as they sat deep and waited patiently to strike on the counter attack.

Despite increased pressure in the final minutes of the half, the Cádiz rear-guard were on hand to admirably deal with the aerial balls that were lofted in towards Conan in the CCF goal. This defensive resolve was a key contributing factor in both sides heading to the dressing room at the interval with the game goal-less with all to play for in the second half.

After the break, both teams enjoyed brief spells of domination without either side really taking the initiative. As the clock ticked down, both teams decided to defend deeper and wait for the offensive forays from the opposing side but neither team were able to carve out clear-cut scoring opportunities.

In time added on, Cervero's men did manage to create a decent opening but both the Valladolid defence and keeper Masip were on hand to repel the danger. At the end of the 90 minutes, both teams appeared happy with the draw and a share of the spoils.
