Cádiz’s assistant coach, Roberto Perera, spoke to the media by videoconference from the press room at Ciudad Deportiva. Perera analysed the team’s current condition going into Sunday’s game against Real Sociedad. “We planned the week to get back into a decent rhythm and to train well, adjusting the tactics and some players have picked up injuries. It’s a shame because during the week there will always be niggles, but these have all come at the same time and that’s bad luck. But, the players have rested and in general it’s been good,” he explained.

Players out for the game against Real Sociedad: “Negredo, Cala and Augusto haven’t trained and are out for Sunday. They’re working hard with the medical services but won’t make it for Sunday. El Choco is in Guatemala, he’s got to quarantine there, and when he can he’ll head back to Cádiz. He’s doing the work the fitness coach asked him to do, but it’s still being quarantined in a room. We’re doing everything possible between all of us so he’s in the best shape possible when he gets back.”

Next rivals, Real Sociedad: “Personally I think they are one of the best teams in LaLiga right now. They are solid in so many areas, they do almost everything well. When they have the ball they create problems for you, and on the transitions they also have fast, skilful players. They are one of the best sides out there. It’s going to be tough. We’ll try and even up the game playing to our strengths. We’re going to do everything possible to pick up all three points at the Carranza.”

Patience when selecting the starting line-up: “We’ve got Iza and Marcos Mauro back, who are training normally. We’re working on selecting the most competitive XI, one which can hurt Real Sociedad. We know what we want to do and the profile of the players we need, but we’ll leave picking the starting side right up to the final moment. We’ll aim to finish the week’s training and then we’ll decide. There’s an overall idea, but it’s not completely finalised.”

Real Sociedad are clear about how they want to play: “We’ll try and find out as much as possible about our opponents, and they’re a side who tend to vary their starting side, although their style of play is the same. They’ve had international players on duty and it’s to be seen how those players come back in. They’ve got a clear style and no matter who plays that won’t change much.”

Playing at the Carranza against the league leaders: “Welcoming Real Sociedad isn’t easy. They are in fine form, solid in so many areas, and picking up good results. We’d like to win at the Carranza, but right now I don’t see any difference between winning at home or away, because there are no fans. As the supporters don’t affect your opponent’s approach, it’s the same. That said, we’d love to win at home and if it’s against the leaders, well even better.”

Jens is back from the Denmark squad: “Jonsson is back, but he can’t train yet because he’s got to pass the appropriate tests. He’s available and if nothing happens he’ll train tomorrow with the team and he’ll be available to play.”

Jon Ander is available and ready to play against Real Sociedad: “Garrido has always been so important for us. He’s had the problem of not playing for a long time, being in the gym a lot and that means he needs to go through a process to get back to full fitness. He’s doing his bit to get back to being 100%. Little by little, with playing time, he’s getting better. I don’t know if he’ll last 90 minutes, but that’s like a lot of players. In principle, Garrido will start.”

Adekanye waiting for his chance: “Bobby has needed time to adapt. He’s doing his bit, he’s integrating more all the time. He’s fitting in and getting ready for when we need him. He can play on either side or just behind the strikers. It’s a question of when we take the decision to play him. There are a number of players ahead of him on each side of the pitch, so he’ll have to wait for his chance. I’m sure it’ll come. He’s in our squad and he’s in our plans.”
