The big attraction of Thursday’s Copa del Rey tie was without doubt the chance to see José Mari back in action. The player from Rota was back in the squad for the last league game, at Mestalla, but Álvaro Cervera was desperate to get him back in the starting line-up. The first team coach has repeatedly said how important the player is to this Cádiz team.
José Mari was extremely active from the start, taking centre stage in Pasarón with his dead ball skills, but he had to come off in the 24th minute after suffering issues in his right leg. The player will undergo medical tests this Friday in Cádiz.
The midfielder picked up the original injury in training at the start of November and, after two months in recovery, was keen as mustard to get back playing in 2021.
