NEGREDO STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF TODAY’S WIN

The striker from Vallecas highlighted how well the team played in their win over Alavés

Álvaro Negredo, striker for Cádiz CF, spoke to the club’s official media team after the win over Alavés and said the win had been “key” as well as being the fruit of “hard work”. “The team was frankly great. It’s a shame they levelled so quickly because we’ve been struggling to score.” He continued: “In the second half, with Choco’s movement we had more freedom and we scored soon after. It was a small advantage that allowed us to take more control of the game, dominate and put our nerves to bed.”

Negredo also said: “With good players things are so much easier. The great thing about this team is that there are great strikers, all of them are good enough. It’s true that I’m playing more than Choco and we understand each other. It’s a wake up call for the others, to raise their game, to keep working and fighting. Under this coach, nobody is guaranteed their place.”

The striker went on: “Scoring is important. I needed that goal, to feel part of a winning effort, which is really important for the team. The team performed so well today. We’ve come off a pretty bad run, we’d had a draw, we hadn’t had great results. The team fought for this win. We hope today’s win lays the foundation to do the same again in the next game at home.”
