Filip Malbasic scored Cádiz’s second goal against Ribadumia to see Álvaro Cervera’s side safely through to the second round of the Copa del Rey and spoke to the media after the game. “We knew these games can be complicated,” the striker said.

Malbasic also noted that “playing in this way teams in the lower divisions can hurt teams from higher up the league. We went into the game knowing it would be tough. We did what we came here to do.”

Malbasic was denied from the penalty spot in the second half but swiftly made amends by scoring Cádiz’s second of the game. “I asked Salvi and Pombo for the ball because I really wanted to score my first goal for Cádiz. I wanted to take the penalty and they let me have it. It was shame I missed and I was really angry. But I was very happy to score the goal afterwards.”
