José Mari Martín-Bejarano was forced to abandon Wednesday's session at the club's training ground after feeling some discomfort in his knee. He was immediately taken to the Viamed Bahía de Cádiz hospital by the club's medical staff where he underwent diagnostic examinations.
Sebastián Jiménez, Cadiz CF's medical officer, issued an update on the player's condition. "José Mari suffered a grade 2 sprain of the lateral knee ligament and a distension of the anterior cruciate ligament."
The player's injury will continue to be assessed and he will begin his recovery process in due course.
