Cádiz CF players were involved in Wednesday’s international football. Midfielder Jens Jonsson made his debut for Denmark as a starter in a friendly against Sweden, while defender Carlos Akapo was not only included in the Equatorial Guinea side that faced Libya, but also wore the captain’s armband. Jonsson was rewarded for his display against the Swedish by being named ‘man of the match’.
The 27-year-old proved a key cog in the Denmark midfield, adding steel to the engine room to help contain the Swedes’ forward forays, as Kasper Hjulmand’s men claimed a 2-0 victory over their always-tough-to-beat Scandinavian rivals. Meanwhile, Akapo’s Equatorial Guinea pulled off a dramatic triumph over Libya in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, scoring twice in time added on to win 3-2 and earn three crucial points in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group J.
Denmark now head into two tough matches against Iceland (Sunday 15 November at 20:45 CET) and Belgium (Wednesday 18 November at 20:45 CET), both in the UEFA Nations League. Equatorial Guinea take on Libya again on Sunday at 20:00 CET, while striker Choco Lozano’s Honduras meet Guatemala in a friendly on the same day, with kick-off at 18:00 CET.
