Defender Varazdat Haroyan and forward Milutin Osmajic were officially unveiled as Cádiz CF players on Monday lunchtime, with Enrique Ortiz and Jorge Cordero on hand to present the pair to the media.
Haroyan was the first to speak, the Armenian discussing his arrival at the LaLiga Santander club. “It was [Armenia’s Spanish head coach] Joaquín Caparrós who talked to me about Cádiz,” he explained. “After a game with the national team, he spoke to me about the possibility of coming to Cádiz and I agreed with him [that it was a good move]. He spoke to me about the people of Andalusia and ever since I arrived here, they’ve been very welcoming. Everyone is really friendly around here.”
Asked about the Cádiz squad, Haroyan said: “We have a team with really talented players and we’re working hard in this pre-season period. I feel right at home in this group of lads.”
Osmajic then addressed the media. “I’m really happy to be here,” he said. “I’m going to give it my all for the team, because it’s just so great to be here. I’m happy in any position, but where I most like playing is at number nine. I’m going to work my socks off to win my place in the team.”
On the challenge of playing in LaLiga Santander, he said: “I know it’s a big step-up when you come to this league; it’s one of the strongest in the world. I’m going to give everything I have to make the grade. Playing against clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid will be tough, but really special. I can’t wait to come up against top clubs and top players.”
