Cádiz CF head coach Gaizka Garitano spoke to the media at the Ciudad Deportiva Bahía de Cádiz, discussing the upcoming Matchday 27 clash against Real Racing Club at El Sardinero.
Team Status
"We have a great group in terms of work ethic and daily commitment. Our goal is to maintain a very high level of demand every day—whether in training, video analysis sessions, or gym work. We must remain strict, hardworking, and focused because we haven't achieved anything yet. In my opinion, we are still in a bad position compared to where Cádiz should be.
There are still many matches left, and we must continue improving and striving for victories. The day we run less or lose our humility, we won’t win games, because as we saw in the first half of the season, this league is extremely competitive and balanced.
Now, we are visiting the league leaders, the best team in the competition so far. If we don’t approach the match with humility and the same work ethic that has brought us here, we won’t be able to compete."
Injury Updates & Squad News
"Brian and Rubén Alcaraz are out due to injuries, and Iker won’t travel due to a last-minute family issue. On the positive side, Roger Martí has trained almost the entire week with the squad. He’s feeling great and has fully reintegrated into the team. Hopefully, his issues are behind him because he has trained very well over the last few days. He will travel with the team and is now fully available."
Roger Martí’s Return
*"What Roger needs most is consistency without injuries. We know the quality he has, and for him, the key is accumulating training sessions to reach optimal fitness. He is an excellent professional who always shortens recovery times when injured.
Today, he trained at a high level again. However, his performance will always depend on his physical condition. If he remains injury-free, he can reach his maximum potential and contribute significantly to the team."
