BASTIDA MAKES PRIMERA DEBUT

"I have fulfilled a dream.” The central midfielder from the Cádiz province was handed a few minutes in the second half.

Homegrown player Álvaro Bastida made his debut in the Primera División for Cádiz, adding the finishing touch to a spectacular season. He has played practically the entire campaign with the Juvenil DH side, then was brought in for the final stretch of the competition by the reserve team in Segunda B before making his mark in the top flight.

Bastida himself, born in Chiclana de la Frontera in the province of Cádiz, offered his own assessment at the end of the game and stressed “I am really happy because this is a dream come true.” He added that he was “very grateful to the coaching staff for the opportunity.”

“This debut has been a wonderful experience and I hope to continue adding to it.”

The lad known as 'Basti' came through grass roots football at the club and this year he has been a regular in the Juvenil A side coached by Francisco Árias 'Sanchís' in what has been an excellent season in the División de Honor. Alberto Cifuentes, coach of Cádiz B, called him up for the games against Real Murcia and Córdoba, although he did not make his debut for the reserve team until the clash with Sevilla Atlético.

CONGRATULATIONS!
