Cádiz CF’s centre-half, Pedro Alcalá, spoke to the media from the press room of the Ciudad Deportiva. Via videoconference, the defender assessed Cádiz’s form as part of the build-up to the match against Real Sociedad on Sunday. “I’ve been very happy since the first minute I joined. The dressing room is very close-knit. It’s a real shame not to have the fans in the stadium, due to the coronavirus. I have played a lot in the Carranza, and know how nice it is with a full stadium. Hopefully it can be sorted out as soon as possible and we can get the fans’ support behind us,” he said.
On covering for key players being out. "We have a difficult game this weekend against a top side in Real Sociedad. They are in good form and doing things well. We have important players out, like Negredo and Cala, but there are 25 of us, plus those from the reserves, who work every day, and we're all ready. The manager picks the team and those who play will do their bit to win the game.”
On the visit from Real Sociedad. "We are coming into this on the back of a tough loss to Atlético Madrid. They scored early and we were right up against it. This week is another story, we are facing a totally different side. We have to play to our strengths, try to stop them from playing their best football, and then take full advantage of our style of play to get all three points.”
On competition for places. "If I play, I will be happy, but if not I will contribute by supporting from the touchline. I get on well with my central defending teammates. We are a team and we’ll all give our best. We all want to contribute to the team. What you want is to win and achieve our objectives at the end of the season."
On team confidence. "The team is good. We lost the other day against Atleti, but we were doing well before that. We know that we have to win, although we’re not worrying too much about it. If we keep doing our job and playing our football, everyone giving 100%, the home victory will come sooner rather than later.”
