Striker Alberto Perea was in front of the media on Wednesday morning via teleconference. The man from Albacete took stock of the early stages of the competition with matchday 10 coming up next week. "We are almost a quarter of the way into the league, and everything has been positive so far, if you take out the last game which was bad. We’ve put that behind us and we now have this week to disconnect. The team has shown that we can put up a strong fight and that’s what we’re going to do,” he explained.
Looking back on the Atlético Madrid defeat. "When we play we never think that we’re going to be beaten 4-0. They are one of the best teams in Spain, and in the world. With the first two goals they took control and against a team like them it’s very difficult to respond.”
On his personal situation. “This year it’s more of a challenge for me to get into the team. I’ll keep working and training as best I can to make it difficult for the gaffer. I hope that through hard work and sacrifice I will get more pitch time. I think the red card in Girona hurt me, as Pombo got the opportunity and took it very well. I felt bad for having made things worse for the team in recent games and it has been tough not to start this season playing.”
Happy with the team's performance. "We have 14 points, we have competed very well, especially away from home, and we are all happy with the team's performance. Now it's time to disconnect, work hard for these two weeks, and be at our best for the visit of Real Sociedad.”
On the international break. "When you have three quarters of a season to go it is still good to rest, especially for those who are playing more. We can take advantage of this weekend to take a break, disconnect with the family, and then return with the batteries fully charged for next week.”
Every point is golden. “At this level we can’t sleep and we know the importance of every point. We are aware that it [the season] is very long and the more points we add, the better.”
