Cádiz’s first team started their run of preseason matches this Wednesday, with Álvaro Cervera’s men taking the trip to Benalup-Casas Viejas to face Barbate CF. The sides were facing each other to lift the Diego Fernández Memorial Trophy, won in the end by Cádiz CF.
Although the side from Barbate tried to take the visitors by surprise in the early minutes, a decent pass from Álex out to the right for Salvi to set up Malbasic to make it 1-0 saw Cádiz take the lead after five minutes. Negredo, who could have doubled the advantage three minutes later, scored the second in the 11th minute with a fine chip from the top of the box. A fine goal to make it 2-0.
With Cádiz now in control, a decent Negredo move saw the ball end up at the feet of Malbasic who scored at his pleasure to make it 3-0, the scoreline when the teams headed off to the dressing rooms. After the break the side from Cádiz changed almost the entire team, with only Lautaro staying out for the second half.
In the second half Cádiz stayed firmly in control. Álvaro Giménez, in the 57th minute, faced down the local keeper and slid the ball under him to score the fourth of the afternoon. Osmajic bagged the fifth, and what a strike. A powerful shot into the top corner. And what a way to make your debut. Taking advantage of a mistake Osmajic then got the sixth and final goal of the match.
