Cádiz CF Femenino and La Rambla couldn’t be separated in a hard-fought game at the club’s Bahía de Cádiz sports complex on Saturday. Both had chances to emerge victorious from an encounter in which neither side could be said to have clearly dominated, and after an exciting finish to the clash, the two teams each came away with a deserved point.
The visitors took an early lead, capitalising on a Cádiz defensive error to open the scoring in only the fourth minute. Midway through a first half that otherwise yielded few scoring opportunities, a fantastic left-footed strike by Julia Lago then saw the hosts draw level.
The match remained a finely balanced affair after half time, although Cádiz began to enjoy slightly more of the ball than La Rambla. With Cádiz pressing hard when out of possession, the away team struggled to push Emilio Soler’s side back into their area and, aside from the odd set piece, were unable to create danger around Ana Prian’s goalmouth.
The match then witnessed a grandstand finale. First, a Cádiz set piece saw Valeria put the home side in front after 84 minutes, leading La Rambla to throw everything at Las Cadistas in search of an equaliser. And a minute from the end of the regulation 90, the guests snatched a dramatic leveller from a corner. Ale Tabárez might have won it for Cádiz in time added on, but her effort was diverted behind for a corner.
