Cádiz suffered their second defeat since Gaizka Garitano’s arrival at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, following goals from Rubén Alcaraz (own goal) and Enric Gallego. Álex Fernández had temporarily equalized with a penalty in the second half.

The match began with Tenerife being proactive and very intense. As a result, in the very first minute, Álvaro Cervera’s team threatened with a shot by Bodiger that crashed against David Gil’s right post.

The same dynamic continued throughout the first half, with Tenerife frequently reaching the final third but being denied by a well-organized and effective Cádiz defense.

However, in the 25th minute, a long free-kick taken by Luismi Cruz was deflected into his own net by Rubén Alcaraz, giving the home team the lead.

That would be the last clear chance of the first half for both sides, and both Tenerife and Cádiz went into the break with a narrow lead for the chicharreros.

After the restart, Cádiz stepped up and began creating danger around Édgar Badía’s goal. First, Chris Ramos nearly connected with an Ontiveros cross to the far post, and shortly after, Mario Climent came close with a shot inside the box.

The clearest chance would come soon after. From a free-kick, Javier Ontiveros tested Badía, who failed to catch the ball. On the rebound, Carlos Fernández got a shot off, but it missed the target.

Moments later, Chris Ramos found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot went wide of the Tenerife goal.

With just over ten minutes remaining, a solo run from Javier Ontiveros resulted in a penalty on the Marbella striker, which Álex Fernández successfully converted from the spot.

With the score level again, Tenerife pushed forward once more. David Gil had to intervene twice to prevent goals from Waldo and Cantero. However, in the 84th minute, he couldn’t stop Enric Gallego, who finished off a cross from the right by Waldo to make it 2-1 at the Heliodoro.
