Cádiz earned a valuable point at El Plantío after a 2-2 draw against Burgos, with goals from Rubén Sobrino and Roger Martí cancelling out strikes from Marcelo and David González to level the final score.
Gaizka Garitano’s men focused their early efforts on attacking down the left wing, looking to deliver crosses into the area. In the first minute, Álex whipped in a ball towards Chris Ramos at the penalty spot, but the striker couldn’t find the target.
Burgos responded shortly before the 15-minute mark when Fer Niño found himself one-on-one with the keeper, only to shoot high. Earlier, David González had also tried his luck, but David Gil made a solid save to maintain the deadlock.
Midway through the first half, Mario Climent nutmegged his defender inside the box and fired at goal, but Ander Cantero made a strong stop — Cádiz’s clearest chance up to that point.
Late in the first half, Cádiz took the lead. A cross from the right found Chris Ramos in the box, and after his initial header was blocked, Rubén Sobrino pounced on the loose ball to make it 0-1.
However, just before the halftime whistle, Marcelo Expósito found a loose ball in the box and calmly slotted it past David Gil to level things up.
In the second half, Melendo had the first chance to put Cádiz back in front, but his shot from close range was blocked by the local defense.
Around the hour mark, the rain-soaked pitch played a cruel trick on Cádiz. A low cross from Sobrino towards an unmarked José Joaquín Matos at the far post stopped dead in a puddle, denying a clear scoring opportunity.
To make matters worse, with 20 minutes left, David González turned the game around with a low left-footed strike that beat David Gil to make it 2-1.
But Cádiz didn’t give up. From a set piece, a loose ball inside the box fell to Roger Martí, who slotted it into an empty net to secure a 2-2 draw and bring home a point from El Plantío.
