2-0 | NO OPTIONS AT EL SADAR

Osasuna beat Cádiz, that had no chance and couldn't react

Cádiz started the second half of the season without a point in their visit to El Sadar. With numerous absentees, who did not even make the call-up list, Álvaro Cervera made changes to the team in an attempt to find a reaction in his side that never came.

Although the game started with Fali at right-back in a back four, the passing of the minutes and the verticality shown by Kike García and Budimir, forced the cadista coach to move Chapela back to form a line of five at the back. Only a shot from Espino over the crossbar and three consecutive corner kicks could be considered yellow approaches, with Rubén Sobrino barely getting into the game from the front.

The control of the game was increasingly for the reds as the minutes went by. This meant that Osasuna began to generate dangerous approaches. Moncayola, with a shot that hit the crossbar and a header from Kike García saved by Ledesma, created danger around the half hour mark. The prize was deservedly to fall on the home side when Kike García played a ball from the flank to Budimir who, in front of the cadista centre-backs, put his foot in to make it 1-0. The initial plan faded away on the way to the break.

Alejo for Jonsson was the variation to try to find a goal. Again the plan ended up falling apart, in this case due to an unfortunate play. The backline failed to clear a ball from the edge of the box, which ended up being converted into a pass from Budimir to Kike Barja who, on a double rebound, scored the goal. A 2-0 lead that put the game in a critical situation. With half an hour to go, Andone replaced Chapela. The Romanian timidly finished off a cross from Fali that Herrera saved without any problems.

In the 71st minute, Osmajic and Bastida came on for Arzamendia and Álex. A 4-4-2 formation was formed, with attacking elements that clashed time and time again in the home team's three-quarter line. Everything was a struggle, but it was impossible to be precise as it was impossible to handle the ball for more than five seconds at a time. Osasuna had not the slightest hint of suffering for the result.

The reality was that the third goal was closer than the possibility of closing the gap. A header by Roberto Torres that hit the post and a poisoned cross by Manu Sanchez that Ledesma put away, could have deepened the wound even further.

The final stretch of the game was one of impotence in the face of an opponent who showed confidence. The team consummated the second consecutive defeat in this 2022 LaLiga Santander season
