1-0 | Fighting to the end for a crazy victory

Rubén Sobrino scored in the 90th minute to give Cádiz the win against a tough Villarreal side.

Each with their own weapons, their own tools and their own philosophy, as well as the need to make it three out of three. That's how Cadiz and Villarreal took to the pitch on an afternoon marked by an easterly wind and heavy rain. It was the Cadiz side who started the game first, with a header from Víctor Chust and a shot from Choco from outside the box.

Unai Emery's side responded with isolated moves, which were met by the Cadista defenders. All of them were attentive when the Castilian side were in the box defended by Conan Ledesma. Meanwhile, the Cádiz side were dangerous in front of goal, but were not rewarded for their efforts.

With the score level at 0-0, the game went into the changing rooms. During the break, Villarreal made up to three changes, although the script of the game did not seem to change and it was still the yellow and blue side who came closest to the first goal of the afternoon. The visitors, however, did not cease in their philosophy of getting to Ledesma's goal by building the play from the back.

As the game drew to a close, the pace of the action quickened and space began to appear. In one of these approaches, just before the end of normal time, Lucas Pérez's cross from the by-line was headed in at the far post by Rubén Sobrino to unleash madness in the Cádiz stadium.

It was time to hold on to the result for the three minutes of stoppage time, and a team led by Negredo gave the opposition no chance and reached the final whistle with the score at one-nil, giving Cádiz three golden points for the fight for relegation.
