THE FOUNDATION COLLECTS MORE THAN 100 KILOS OF BOTTLE TOPS

Most of the material was received after the coronavirus lockdown and has already been sent to its destination

The Cádiz CF Foundation has come to the end of its incredibly successful participation in the ‘Capitán Tapón’ (Captain Bottle Top) campaign, having collected more than 100kg of bottle tops for recycling. Much of the success of the campaign is thanks to the people of Cádiz, who fully played their part, with most of the material recycled being collected after the coronavirus lockdown. That means numerous families were thinking about the importance of the campaign during that period.

It is worth noting that this is the first campaign we have carried out in order to achieve the sustainable development goals relating to environmental matters. The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals recognise for the first time how important it is for all members of society, not just governments, to come together in the search for solutions.

José Mata, the CCF Foundation manager, offered an assessment of this, underlining that at “the Cádiz CF Foundation we have always placed importance on sustainability, but we are aware that only by being united can we achieve ambitious challenges such as tackling climate change, the preservation of our coastline and recycling.” Along the same lines, he added that, "it is essential to develop long-term alliances that help us achieve our goals and increase our impact."

To that end, a collaborative agreement has been signed recently with ZERO WASTE, an NGO which works directly on keeping beaches clean, while other important relationships have also been established, including an agreement with Ecopilas and a future deal with Ecoembes, which will allow us to take a further leap forward in our strategy.
