Iza: "I am reaching my best level"

The right-back from Puerto de Santa María talks to Cádiz CF TV

The right-back Iza Carcelén spoke to Cádiz CF TV to analyse the start of the season for the yellows, as well as other aspects, both personal and collective.

Evaluation of the start of the season

It's not a good or bad start, a normal start. The team is out of the relegation zone, they've played some good games and some bad ones, but we already have the experience of last year and it's going to be difficult for us to achieve our objective, which is none other than the survival in the top flight.

Adaptation of the new players

The good thing about this dressing room is that it's a family. Everyone who arrives here adapts quickly, we welcome them very well. The same thing happened to me when I arrived, it felt like I had been here all my life. They make you feel like you've been here for many years.

Personal level

Personally, I'm slowly getting back to my best. I passed the COVID in the summer, then it took me a while to get into the rhythm and now I'm feeling better and better. I'm getting to the level I want to help the team.

The international break

It's not so important physically, it's more important mentally. We've been a bit pensive for a few weeks, but it will be good for us to disconnect, recharge our batteries and face the Espanyol game, which is going to be complicated.

Experience in La Liga Santander

We are practically the same group of players, except for the new signings. Anything that adds up to years in a category is experience, knowing the opposition, the referees, the stadiums. That's essential to achieve what we're looking for, which is the objective of staying in the top flight.

Football with full stands

It's more equal, it's more even. There are people cheering in the stadiums, which changes the results of playing at home compared to playing away. We saw that with COVID the teams won more away games than at home, and now we are seeing that we are returning to normality. The home team is usually stronger because they have the fans on their side.

Our temple with the fans

When our stadium is full, it's very tight. A friend of mine came to see us against Valencia and he told me that he was speechless when the fans pushed for the whole game. We really felt it on the pitch.

Message to the fans

I want to say to the fans that they should continue with the same enthusiasm as always, we are going to compete every game for them. We want to stay there so that Cádiz and its province can enjoy Cádiz CF in the First Division.

Players from Cádiz in the team

I've been saying for a long time that the Cadiz product is important. There are many players from the province who are playing in the Liga Santander or in other leagues in Europe. There is a lot of talent in the province. Bastida made his debut in the top flight at the age of 17, Pedro Benito and Chapela made their debuts. More youngsters will make their debuts because there is a lot of talent in Cádiz.

Being from Cádiz and playing for Cádiz in LaLiga Santander

I'm used to it, because when you do something a lot you get used to it. At the beginning I didn't believe it. When I arrived here after two years in two teams, which went badly for us as a group, I went up to the top flight, I achieved the survival with a month to go and now I'm in the top flight for another year. It was something unfeasible for me when I arrived. I am enjoying it very much. I see it as normal after several years, but I try to enjoy it because it's not going to last forever.
