Now that the winter transfer window is over, the club's sporting management, headed by Enrique Ortiz and Jorge Cordero, have assessed the various additions to the team coached by Sergio González: "All of them have been agreed with the coach. With five signings we consider that we have strengthened the team quite well".
First of all, it was Jorge Cordero who spoke first, summarising the five signings made by Cádiz CF: "We have done everything possible to bring in the best players for what we need. We have brought in a centre-back (Luis Hernández), two pivots (Fede San Emeterio and Lucas Alcaraz), a winger (Oussama Idrissi) and a striker (Lucas Pérez). We've pulled out all the stops in every position".
In reference to the figure of the coach, Cordero commented that "all the additions have been agreed with Sergio González, we didn't want to sign for the sake of signing" and at the same time he highlighted that "the coach asked for players who knew the category, who would adapt quickly, who knew our football, the language, etc. We were looking for immediate performance, very clear profiles, and that simplifies the market".
In addition, both Cordero and Enrique Ortiz have stated that "the players who wanted to come have arrived, and they are involved in taking this forward. We have considered many players who, due to circumstances at their club or our situation in the league table, have not been able to come. We have tried everything".
"We will have to assess the market at the end of the season. We are happy. We have strengthened what we thought was necessary. From now on we have to work to get the points to save ourselves," commented Enrique Ortiz.
Both Cordero and Ortiz have been transparent about the signing of Lucas Pérez: "It came at the last minute. He is a player that Sergio likes. There was a possibility and from there we spoke with Elche. We reached an agreement with the club and the player".
Finally, regarding the reinforcements from Cádiz CF's direct rivals, Cordero declared that "the second half of the season will be tough for everyone".
